Climbing nasturtium, an annual plant with characteristic orange flowers, is a unique decoration of balconies, gazebos and pergolas, especially that it possesses a unique ability to climb as the gardener intended. Its round, truly picturesque leaves with distinct veins are arranged like small saucers facing the sun, and Nasturtium usually blooms all summer, sometimes even from spring to the first frost.
When a plant, called Tropaeolum majus in Latin, takes root in a designated place, it can grow up to 3 m in length. The plant does not like changing places, so it is crucial to sow it thoughtfully, directly into the ground, so it does not have to bother her shapely climbers. Nasturtium will certainly repay the gardener with a score of edible flowers and leaves − light orange lampshades can serve as a decoration for spring and summer dishes, and firm leaves will enrich the taste of salads with delicately peppery notes.
